Derek Lynch
I make my new paintings using pencil, marker, carnal dacha, ink, acrylics and polymers, applied in layers to panels that are sized or stretched with a smooth-surface. I use a combination of techniques that includes printing techniques.
My recent work has been largely influenced by the growth of my young daughter Elle and our daily visits to the park playgrounds (Golden Gate, Panhandle and Julius Kan) in San Francisco. My preoccupation with the structural forms that kid’s use and the landscaping, and architecture around them has given my work new imagery.
What has been happening in the world for the last six years globally has shaped my conception of reality and how I perceive it? I am attempting to combine these observations
to create a compilation of connective awareness.
In my former work I was preoccupied by natural complex geometry, patterns and colors and forms.
